What we don't really care about

Previous employers, Schooling, Degrees, Acronyms in your CV, Gender, Religion, Age, Communication skills (as long as you can communicate with us over IM in a language we understand) and some other things our lawyers recommended we put in.

We Are Looking For

Awesomeness

Lots of it.

Expertise

Code Nerds: In depth knowledge of at least one web based framework/language: Javascript, Ruby on Rails, .NET MVC, CakePHP, Django, Sinatra, Merb etc. Bonus points if you like working with nightly builds.

UI Nerds : Should know how to write W3C compliant HTML and CSS. Knowledge of browser inconsistencies is a must. Should know his or her kerns from ligatures. Must have prior experience in creating interfaces using Photoshop, Illustrator or equivalent software. Graphic designers who can illustrate are also welcome. Knowledge of javascript is a huge plus.

Passion

We argue for hours over editors, frameworks, documentation styles and format specifications. Don't bother to apply if you don't have at least one story to tell us about nerdery.

Taste

UI creation is not part of the job description for those who write code but you're expected to be able to differentiate between what is good and bad. You are expected to write elegant code. You will be fired for using Comic Sans as body-text at Genii. We are serious.

Exposure

It is OK if you haven't dabbled in Less, Sass, HTML5 or non-relational databases but it is kinda important that you know what these things are.

We Can Offer You

Awesomeness. Lots of it.

A salary which would be pretty darned decent....

A budget which you can use to configure your system at work.

Excellent, merit-based growth opportunities.

A place where your voice would be heard, respected and valued. Be it which stack should we work on or how should a product look like.

The thrill of working at a startup with colleagues who are all crazy about changing the world and what not.

Flexible timings as long as you get your work done.

No dress code except when meeting clients.

We strongly believe that work should be and can be fun. Startups are incredibly exciting, fun and challenging. Building products that people love can sometimes get stressful. We don't promise you a bed of roses but we promise you that when you the leave office after a hard day of work you will look back at it with pride and satisfaction. That is what being a Genius at Genii is all about.

What if you don't meet the given criteria?

If you are a fresher and you think that you might have in awesomeness (we use that word a lot at Genii), passion and taste what you lack in expertise and exposure then you can still give us a call. We weren't all born geniuses.

If you think that you have it in you and can back it up with something ( sometimes -- anything) we will give you chance.

What if we haven't listed out a vacancy?

It is the people who work here who make Genii what it is. People aren't resources or assets at Genii. People are Geniuses. Geniuses is Genii.

If you think that you would be the right fight here then give us a call. Sales, Accounting, Business Development or Client Servicing or anything really. No entity cannot have enough of awesomeness. So give us a call anyway and we'll take it from there.
